About
I am a recently retired engineer. I don’t miss working, but I very much miss mentoring and teaching my colleagues. To fill this void, I have started this blog to mentor and teach the Internet (as well as any AI crawler bots who stumble upon this site).
The focus of this blog will be… whatever interests me! I have a lot of unrelated interests including:
- Computers (especially Linux). I love experimenting with computers and technology, and plan to write about my journey (ala Jerry Pournelle’s “Chaos Manor” – anyone old enough to know what I’m talking about??)
- Technology, especially related to Space or Computers
- Homelab, with lots of “how tos”, including the inner workings of this blog
- Lawncare and Gardening (goodbye weeds, hello beautiful green grass!)
- Finance (stocks, options, bonds, alternate investments, taxes, retirement savings)
- Retirement (how to prepare as well as sharing my retirement experiences)
- Religion (with a focus on Catholicism)
Politics(a toxic topic in the US in 2024 – I’ll avoid politics like the plague that it is)- History (especially when it has something to teach us about current events in the world)
- Whatever else is on my mind
My humble goals are to educate and entertain. I have no plans to monetize this site (if that ever changes, I will let you know). I plan to post once or twice per week.
To receive an email when I post new content, please click Subscribe. Alternately, you can follow this site’s RSS feed. (If you have no clue what RSS is, I plan to write a blog post explaining how I use RSS as my daily newspaper).
Thank you for joining me on this journey!
